This is the website of Hanna Williams – human rights specialist and journalist.

I produce various forms of journalism and media content about society, typically grounded in a human rights perspectives. To me, this means that I report on human rights issues and analyze stories through a human rights lens, while basing my angles and approaches on human rights principles.

In my work, public education and the strengthening of democracy are central to the journalistic mission; I therefore strive to convey information of democratic importance in an accessible manner.

I work across text, photography, video, and audio.


About me

I pursued my bachelor’s degree in Human Rights at Lund University between 2020 and 2024. During my studies, I was an active volunteer with my program association (MiL) and produced a show for the student radio – Radio AF. In the autumn of 2022, I took a break from my academic studies to complete a practical course in moving imagery and webcasting at Malmö University.

In the spring of 2023, I compleated a human rights internship at the Sida unit of the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok as part of my studies. I graduated in the spring of 2024 with a bachelor’s thesis titled ”Swedish Media: Framing of Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights During Humanitarian Crises.”

In the autumn of 2024, I continued my studies at Lund University’s supplementtal bacelor’s programme in journalism. I graduated in January 2026 with a thesis titled: ”Wanted Children – Unwanted Fetuses: On Swedish Journalism, Disability-Selective Abortion, and Biopolitics.”

Since the spring of 2026 I’ve produced and hosted a podcast called ”Utvecklingssamtal om…” (approximately translated to ”performance review of…”) in Swedish. A series in which I speak to experts about current topics in Sweden, in an effort to promote knowledge and educate the pubic on issues relevant to our democracy.

I’m also actively pursuing journalistic freelance work.
